Voices of the Valley
Voices of the Valley (VoV) is a San Francisco Bay Area choral organization founded in 1998. Under the baton of Music Director Ms Stephanie Chan, the group frequently incorporates acting and choreography to express the different layers and dynamics of music.
Alongside its own regular concerts, VoV is often invited to collaborate with local performing groups. In 2009, VoV performed with the renowned XiaMen Philharmonic Orchestra at the Davis Symphony Hall in San Francisco. In 2008, VoV performed the Requiem by Faure with the Stanford University Orchestra. Other past performances include events at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum and appearances on Bay Area Radio/TV Stations. In 2010, VoV made its first international concert tour, by invitation from Chinese University of Hong Kong to perform Dreams of the Red Chamber by Taiwanese composer Eric Liu.
VoV currently comprised of 20 active members, and its performances include a vast selection of music from different genres, including Scarlatti's Te Deum Laudamus, Mozart's Requiem, Schubert's Rosamunde, Faure's Requiem, Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Gilbert and Sullivan's Operettas, Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, Huang Zi's Song of Eternal Lament, Huang YauTai's Mulan Joins the Army, Hsu Tsang-Houei's The Legend of the White Snake and Chen Yi's Chinese Poems etc.
